Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Jibunshi mobile application (“App”) operated by CozyAppLab (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Description of Service

Jibunshi is a personal life-history journaling application that allows you to record daily logs, create stories and projects, and visualize your personal timeline. The App stores your data primarily on your device and optionally in iCloud.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the App. If you are under 18, you must have your parent’s or guardian’s consent. By using the App, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. User Accounts and Data

3.1 Local Data. Your journals, stories, projects, episodes, milestones, and daily logs are stored locally on your device using an on-device database. We do not have access to this data unless you choose to share it.

3.2 iCloud Backup. If you enable iCloud backup, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account under Apple’s terms and privacy practices. We do not control Apple’s iCloud infrastructure.

3.3 Data Export. The App allows you to export your data as a JSON file. You are solely responsible for the security and handling of exported files.

3.4 Data Loss. While we design the App to preserve your data, we cannot guarantee against data loss resulting from device failure, software bugs, operating system updates, or other causes. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups.

4. Subscriptions and Purchases

4.1 Premium Subscription. The App offers optional premium features through auto-renewing subscriptions (monthly and annual plans). Prices are displayed in the App and may vary by region.

4.2 Billing. Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Payment is charged to your store account at confirmation of purchase.

4.3 Auto-Renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your device’s store settings.

4.4 Refunds. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective refund policies. We do not process refunds directly.

4.5 Free Features. Core journaling features remain available without a subscription. Premium features are clearly marked within the App.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws;
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App;
• Interfere with or disrupt the App’s functionality or servers;
• Use the App to store or transmit content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights;
• Attempt to circumvent any subscription or payment mechanisms.

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 The App, including its design, code, graphics, icons, and content (excluding user-generated content), is owned by CozyAppLab and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

6.2 You retain ownership of all content you create within the App (journals, stories, episodes, etc.). By using the App, you do not grant us any rights to your content except as necessary to provide the service.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

EXCEPT FOR WARRANTIES THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

8. Limitation of Liability

EXCEPT FOR LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, AND TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, COZYAPPLAB SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

EXCEPT FOR LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE LESSER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE THOUSAND JAPANESE YEN (¥1,000).

9. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services including but not limited to:

• Apple iCloud (for backup)
• RevenueCat (for subscription management)
• Apple App Store / Google Play Store (for purchases)

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.

10. Modifications to the Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or other appropriate means. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases, but provisions that by their nature should survive (including Sections 6–8) will remain in effect.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tokyo, Japan.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and CozyAppLab regarding the App and supersede any prior agreements.
